About La Bamba Market

La Bamba Market is an asian grocery store in Santa Barbara, California. It is listed at 235 W Micheltorena St, Santa Barbara, CA 93101, which places it among the local businesses of Santa Barbara that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

Store size varies enormously, from a small corner grocery with a few aisles to a full supermarket chain location in Santa Barbara with a bakery, seafood counter and food court under one roof. Sales and promotions are often posted in-store or in a weekly flyer rather than online, so prices listed on a website may be out of date. Seafood markets sell live and on-ice product and can usually clean or prepare fish on request for a small fee. Specialty food stores in California may focus narrowly on one category, like a butcher, a rice and dry goods shop, or an import store, so calling ahead to confirm stock for a specific item saves a wasted trip.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 10 am–9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach La Bamba Market at (805) 966-3406; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.

With 3.8 out of 5 on Google from 34 reviews, it sits in the middle of the range for asian grocery stores in Santa Barbara. Recent reviews are the best guide.

Santa Barbara is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Santa Barbara follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Let the clerk know that the water machine ate my quarter. He said to insert another one because water costs 50 cents a gallon. I pointed out that the sign on the machine states otherwise; he said that's why the 2 is blacked out. In that case, I told him, it looks like it says 5. He became furious, called me disrespectful and refused to let me finish filling my bottle. He insulted me saying, "I don't know where you're from, but you shouldn't be using the machine since you don't know what you’re doing." I live across the street. Ridiculous and unprofessional.

Water machine does not charge the advertised price (It says 25 cents a gallon, but it’s probably closer to 50 cents). I wanted to go inside to clarify, but shop was closed and there are no hours posted anywhere I could find.

Warning they do completely arbitrarily charge for items. There are no posted prices for merchandise (aside from cigarettes and some of the alcohol but not most!) and I have been charged different amounts buying the exact same items, with the difference being multiple dollars. They do not provide itemized receipts. There are plenty of other bodegas within a few block radius that operate within the bounds of the law, so I’d suggest those !

Laura Reyes speaks both languages and was giving the man a hard time that was not necessary. !!!!

Just your typical corner marker. However, they do have a nice selection of local craft brewery beers. Limited parking, but if you live in the area, it'd obviously not an issue.
